    Alabama Pharmacy Tech 6-Month Training Deadline Explained

    What triggers the six-month deadline

    Rule 680-X-2-.14 applies to technicians whose initial registration with the Alabama Board of Pharmacy is dated on or after January 1, 2020. The six-month period begins on your registration date, the day ALBOP puts your pharmacy technician license on file. Your employer's hire date does not start the clock if registration happened later.

    What counts as approved training

    ALBOP accepts completion of a program on the Board's approved training list, or passing a board-recognized certification exam such as PTCB or ExCPT. Approved programs cover the five required topic areas: legal and ethical standards, professional standards, terminology, calculations, and medication safety.
