Tyler Dalton, PharmD, Alabama pharmacist and program director of Alabama Pharm Tech

I am a fourth-generation pharmacist from Dadeville, Alabama. My family has owned and operated Alabama pharmacies for more than a century, and I lead a network of independent pharmacies across the state.

I built this program because new technicians kept showing up near their six-month deadline without a clear path to finish. Every module, quiz, and example comes from real Alabama pharmacy practice.

    Frequently asked questions

Answers about ALBOP-approved training, cost, registration, and what comes next

What does ALBOP approval mean for this program?

ALBOP approval means the Alabama Board of Pharmacy has reviewed and accepted Alabama Pharm Tech as a program that satisfies the initial pharmacy technician training requirement under Rule 680-X-2-.14. When you finish, your certificate of completion is accepted when you upload it through the ALBOP Licensure Gateway.

How long does the course take to finish?

Most students finish in two to four weeks. The course is fully self-paced, so you can move faster or take more time. ALBOP gives new registrants six months from registration to complete approved training, which gives you plenty of room if you are working full time.

How much does it cost, and what is included?

The program is $199 as a one-time payment. That includes all five ALBOP-required modules, module knowledge checks, the final exam, and your certificate of completion. There are no subscriptions, hidden fees, or required add-ons.

Can I complete the course on my phone?

Yes. The entire course runs in your web browser on any phone, tablet, or computer. There is no app to install. Many working technicians finish modules during breaks or between shifts on their phone.

What are the Alabama registration steps after I finish training?

After you pass all module checks and the final exam, download your certificate from your student dashboard. Log in to the ALBOP Licensure Gateway, open your pharmacy technician profile, and upload your certificate of completion. ALBOP requires evidence of completed training within 10 days of finishing. Keep a copy for your employer and your records.

Do I need a college degree to enroll?

No. You do not need a college degree to take this course. To register with ALBOP as a pharmacy technician, you need a high school diploma or GED. That is a Board requirement for registration, not a requirement of this training program itself.

    What is your refund policy?

All sales are final. Once payment is processed and course access is delivered, we do not offer refunds. Please review the program details and confirm you are registered with ALBOP before enrolling.

    Who teaches this course?

The program is built and maintained by Tyler Dalton, PharmD, a fourth-generation Alabama pharmacist. He leads an independent pharmacy network across the state and wrote every module from real Alabama pharmacy practice, not generic national content.

What is the difference between ALBOP registration and PTCB certification?

ALBOP registration is your state license to work as a pharmacy technician in Alabama. It requires completing an approved training program and submitting your certificate through the Licensure Gateway. PTCB certification is a separate national credential (CPhT) that many employers prefer, especially in hospital and clinical settings. Alabama Pharm Tech fulfills your ALBOP training requirement. Compare registration and certification in Alabama. When you are ready for national certification, Allied Health Academy's PTCB-recognized program includes a 228-hour curriculum and a PTCB exam voucher.

Do I need to take the PTCB exam after this training?

No. Alabama lets you register and work as a pharmacy technician without PTCB certification. This course satisfies your ALBOP training requirement. When you are ready to advance and earn more, our full Allied Health Academy program prepares you for the PTCB exam.

How does this program satisfy Rule 680-X-2-.14?

Rule 680-X-2-.14 requires pharmacy technicians who received initial ALBOP registration on or after January 1, 2020 to complete board-approved training within six months of registration. Alabama Pharm Tech covers all five required topic areas in five modules. Your certificate of completion is the document you submit to ALBOP to prove you met the requirement. Read the full rule explanation.

Can I complete the training while working full time?

Yes. The course is designed for working technicians. Study on your phone or computer whenever your schedule allows. There are no live class times and no deadlines inside the course beyond the six-month ALBOP window from your registration date.
